TROUTFEST 2017 RECAP
GRTU’s Troutfest 2017 a Huge Success (that’s no fish tale)
It takes dedication, planning, hard work, new ideas and great partners and volunteers to pull off a successful Troutfest event. All of those elements came together to make GRTU’s 2017 Troutfest our most successful one to date.
This year, GRTU set aggressive goals for attendance and revenue and with the hard work of all those involved, was able to exceed each of those goals. Many Troutfest records were shattered at Troutfest 2017. These included more than 365 Banquet Tickets sold, over 240 people attending the F3T Movie Night, the most Exhibitors ever, and the most retail dollars of Auction items donated to name a few. The Exposition attendance was over 1,500 on Saturday and over 1,000 on Sunday making for a busy time for presenters, instructors and exhibitors.
“Troutfest 2017 was taken to another level,” said Ted Mendrek of Sportsman’s Finest, a Platinum Sponsor of Troutfest, “More vendors, a new venue, great turnout, great people and a lot of fresh energy.”
Jen Ripple, Editor in Chief of Dun Magazine, was a featured speaker at Troutfest and echoed the positive sentiment. “As a national speaker on fly fishing, I attend many fundraisers and events,” Ripple said, “GRTU Troutfest is by far one of my favorites. While the location, on the beautiful Guadalupe River, lends itself to the perfect backdrop for a fly fishing event, it’s the people and information gained at Troutfest that makes it so unique. The members of GRTU are warm and genuine in their love for cold, clean water and all things trout. This love shows in the conservation work they do and in the generosity brought forth in their fundraising banquet like no other event I’ve been a part of.”
Troutfest supports not only GRTU and GRTU Youth efforts, but other non profits as well. And this important point was highlighted by Troutfest 2017 Chairman, Bill Marshall. “We’d like to thank all our sponsors, donors, presenters, exhibitors, volunteers and attendees who came out to support Troutfest. In doing so, you helped support not just GRTU and the Guadalupe River, but our area youth, Casting for Recovery, Project Healing Waters and Reel Recovery. Additionally, the tremendous success of this years event enables us to generously support TU’s Headwaters Youth Program. By doing so, GRTU has a large impact nationwide on youth engagement in the outdoors and Cold Water Conservation efforts. It was our biggest and best Troutfest as we built on past Troutfest’s and we would like to thank everyone involved for making it possible. See you at Troutfest 2018!”
