A Message from GRTU’s President, Rafael Torres
With the Fall season rolling around, your GRTU Chapter is busy at work with a number of exciting initiatives detailed in this newsletter.
At the TU National meeting in Roanoke, Va. this September, we went out in force to announce the GRTU Tomorrow Fund. This is a national program started through an initial donation by your GRTU Chapter to ensure future funding for the TU Headwaters youth programs. Our annual donation is a challenge to other TU chapters, councils, and individual donors to also step up and give so TU’s national youth programs can be sustained well into the future. Read more and learn how you can support the GRTU Tomorrow Fund.
Our Lease Access Program (LAP) is now open for enrollment. There are changes to the program this year, so if you want to participate in the LAP, read the article and get to the website to sign up.
Troutfest Texas 2018 tickets are now on sale. Last year’s event was our best ever and this year is promising to be even better. Great speakers, more exhibitors and on-line bidding are all being incorporated into this year’s event.
The Fisheries update has some great news too – like more lease access locations and more fish being stocked this season.
Our meeting for January will be an opportunity for GRTU members who wish to get a taste of what a TU National meeting is like. GRTU’s regular January meeting will be combined with the TU National Leadership Committee Mid-South Regional meeting. The venue will be the T-bar-M in New Braunfels. There will be a slight cost to those that attend and want to be fed, however, if your interest is trout fishing and cold water conservation, it will be worth your while. More details will come on this soon.
Thank you for your membership in GRTU. And I look forward to seeing you at one of our events or out on the water.
