GRTU to Host Kid-Fish in January: Volunteers Needed
As for the past two years, the Guadalupe River Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host a free fly fishing seminar for young people ages 10 to 17 in conjunction with Trout Fest.
This event is sponsored by the City of New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department during the month of January and in the past has been for two weekends and the weekdays in between. The dates are yet to be set, but we anticipate that the fly fishing instruction will be on the two Saturday mornings from 8 to 11 on the banks of the Comal River about a quarter-mile from the "Spring-fed Pool" and the Trout Fest.
We will need volunteers to assist the certified fly casting instructor each Saturday morning. While most of the details have yet to be worked out, hopefully they will be forthcoming in time for the Fall meeting. The probable dates are the second and third weekends in January.
Please plan to spend a very rewarding two or three hours helping these young people develop proficiency in this sport we enjoy so much, and contributing to local positive press for our organization.
