GRTU Tomorrow Fund Supports Youth Programs – Michael Racis
GRTU recently announced the kick off of the GRTU Tomorrow Fund at the Trout Unlimited Annual Meeting in Roanoke Virginia. The GRTU Tomorrow Fund will support national youth education and conservation programs with GRTU committing $10,000 a year for ten years to support TU Headwaters Youth Programs through the fund.
“There is no more important business of TU than educating our youth,” said Phil Dopson, GRTU Board Member and Texas State Council Chair. “And when we saw a need to help fund these youth efforts, we felt we had to step up.”
This fund will provide continued support for vital Trout Unlimited Headwaters Youth Programs, including, the TU Teen Summit, STREAM Girls and Trout in the Classroom. These programs provide meaningful experiences that nurture and inspire the next generation of conservation-minded anglers. And the Headwaters program is a key source to engaging young people in our efforts to maintain and strengthen Trout Unlimited in the future.
“As Headwaters staff, we find it truly inspiring to see GRTU step up in such a big way,” said Franklin Tate, Director of Youth Education Programs at Trout Unlimited. “This type of sustained giving is the first of its kind for Headwaters. GRTU’s commitment to give $100,000 over 10 years enables us to spend more time directly working with TU volunteers and youth and less time searching for funding. That’s huge.”
The plan is to have GRTU’s donation be a catalyst for other chapters, councils, businesses and members to get involved and to raise $40,000 by year end. That effort is already gaining traction and to date, over $12,000 has been donated beyond the GRTU commitment.
“We’ve already seen the ripples the Tomorrow Fund is making across the TU network with more donations flowing in from chapters and councils as we approach the deadline.
GRTU encourages members to step up and support The GRTU Tomorrow Fund and our future. Click here to donate now.
