Yep - Orvis has them - I still think its funny though that women are buying them from fly tying suppliers.
I have some hare's masks that are just about done. With those in chic next year, maybe dangled from something...?

I was in our local Cabela's today and was amused to see that grizzly hackle capes, saddles and necks are still not showing up on their tying materials racks. In fact, I'm not sure they've had them during the entire time this store has been open. Glad I have a decent supply at home. They're great for Griffith's Gnats and beadhead peacock soft hackles (a favorite Guad fly of mine).

What will be in your fly boxes, if these low flows continue? I began tying this summer, and am getting pretty good. Pince nymphs, pheasant tails, midges, bwo, san Juan worms, any other suggestions?

Small, dark nymphs on light tippets. Thread midges, RS2s, WD40s, Ron McAlpin's BWO Swimming Nymph is always one of my favorites.

Is there a recipe for Ron's BWO Swimming nymph or a picture? Would like to try one.

Did a search through the forum and found this for you. The first paragraph in his post has the recipe.

No worries--if you search a bit more, you may find a picture of it also. I thought there was a post a while back that included the picture, but that may have been on another site.

We are on the verge of another season. Water tables are up and we should see a bunch of flows this winter 90-150cfs.
Now it is supposed to be a drier and warmer winter because of a continuing La Nina along the pacific coast. These conditions should go to ENSO neutral after February returning to normal temps and rainfall. So what does that mean for fly selection?
This year I will be fishing early with attractors and smaller flys.....
Attractors: Squirmy worms, eggs. and Mop Fly seem to work consistantly. Trailers: Zebra midge, Rainbow Warrior, RS2, Frenchie, 2 Bit Hooker, Green Caddis, Midgling, micro-mayfly emerger, flashback Pheasant Tail, Tung Teaser.
For larger attractor nymphs: Jimmy Legs, Dave's Red Squirrel, Copper John, Hare's Ear, Prince, Pheasant Tail.
The Browns really respond to moving flys like: Wooly Buggers, various streamers; Brunch Money, Slump Buster, Zonker, and really my most dependable flys are soft Hackles; orange and partridge, Dave's, Pheasant Tail, all work good.

Thank you for reviving this thread. I'm tying my own flies this season.

Right now my box is well stocked with 18-20 size midges and brassies of different color and materials. I need to pick up some hooks and tie some in the 22-24 range.

I also tied a range off eggs, San Juan worms, and squirmy worms. Rubber legs too.

Now I have to focus on other attractor nymph patterns, some rs2's and a few dry options if rises occurs.

How about some photos folks? ill get one up shortly.

Jimbo, your fly recommendations are excellent, but, to be honest, they don't come close to the exquisite recommendations made by Dorris232. I'd ask for photos of some of her stunning creations, but her descriptions are so apt, photos really couldn't add much. Guadalupe trout, you're on notice.

Distant learning is off topic as far as I could tell. the post was deleted as I received a complaint about it.
