It looks to me like a lot of the rain the last 2 days is falling in the right places. Is it enough to make any significant impact?

The upper Basin caught some rain, but just enough to bring it off single digits.
Seems a lot of the rain there just soaked in really dry ground and didn't bring up the river much.
Most of the real heavy rains fell on the Medina, San Antonio, and Cibolo creek.
waterwatch.usgs.gov/?m=real&r=tx
It has not even reached Spring Branch yet which is still showing 2.73cfs.

I've really just started paying close attention-iIt looks like rain in Gillespie County is the key to Canyon Lake level/Guadalupe river flow.

And it looks like there's been steady rain this week that I would think would have raised Canyon even more.

What's the target level for Canyon at this time of year and in early 2019 for optimum fishing?

We sure do  but we should also be patient and not wish upon so much water at once that it disturbs the cold water under story. This steady rain is key, we just need it to continue throughout the fall and winter. Signs are pointing to a wet next couple of months.

Yes, a little bit of Gillespie County does runs into the Guad, but we really want Kerr county to get rain. Specifically west of Kerrville where the springs that start the river are located. Also, the fishing up there is fantastic.

Just a note the trigger date for the Flow Agreement to kick in May15th (lake reaching pool at the day or anytime during the Flow Agreement period)More importantly the lake level must be 909'msl or above (not 910'msl). And yes that's a lot of needed rain to bring the lake up to that level.
The good news is we have a good start on that target. These past rains have saturated the soil and continued rains will more easily raise river flows into the lake. NOAA is predicted an El Nino to kick in this fall and winter and hopefully that will bring the rains we need to get the sustaining cold summer flows.

Could be a good next 48 hours for the inflow. Fingers crossed.

The lake came up to 905.5'msl overnight, that's over 3/4 a foot. If it keeps raining in the upper water shed we may see pool before Thanksgiving which would be great !!! So.....

The upper Guadalupe has not caught much rain yet. We are in a wet pattern and likely to stay that way for some time.
I am hoping for a gradual rise of the lake to maintain the thermocline. That being said this winter is looking good. Flows are already 95cfs.
With continued rains I am expecting the lake to get to pool and then you will see increases in releases from the dam.
And if we're lucky we might get, the holy grail, cold sustaining summer flows. If I could ask and get one thing, this last year of being V P of Fisheries, it would be that our LAP members see and experience the Trout fishing on the Guadalupe during cold sustaining summer flows. The last time we had them was 2010 and it was the best summer I've ever seen for the Guadalupe Fishery in my entire life.

Update 8:39pm

The Upper Guadalupe is flooding the North Fork alone has gone from 8cfs to 7210cfs and still rising.
Heavy rain should continue overnight and into tomorrow evening.
I am hoping we don't get a 100,000cfs flood like they did on the Llano today.
