I watched this hatch on wednesday evening and saw a fish bust the top, it was the only rise but it was a nice 1.Has anyone had any luck fishing the white caddis hatch and if so what pattern has been working.

If you saw a splashy rise, then it was probably to a caddis pupa emerging. In that case, a soft hackle of appropriate color and size should work. If the fish was really taking a dry fly, then a CDC and Elk would be my first choice (also way up on my list of adult mayfly imitations).

Yesterday on my wade back in I noticed a few subtle rises. I tied on a pheasant tail and partridge soft hackle and waited for the fish to reappear. After spotting the fish I made a perfect swing in the area he was rising to. I saw another rise and immediately my line when tight. After a short fight, the fish ended up escaping. None the less, it was an exciting experience to sight cast a rising fish on the Guadalupe!

I've had a lot of luck on a nymph called the Iced Caddis Pupa. I use it whenever I start seeing adult Caddis on the water.

I googled the Ice Wing Caddis Pupa and that is a terrific looking fly.
I think I will add it to the rotation.

I have been lucky using a wet light gray partridge hackle thread body. size 16.
