1st Annual FFF Gulf Coast Council Expo

"A Celebration of Fly Fishing and Kayak Fishing On the Northern Gulf Coast"
Featuring flyfishing greats Lefty Kreh and Nick Curcione

The newly-formed Gulf Coast Council (GCC) of the Federation of Fly Fishers will host their inaugural expo and convention at the Lake Charles Civic Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana, May 18-20, 2007. This celebration of fly fishing includes programs, fly tying demos, casting clinics, workshops, manufacturer exhibits, paddlecraft demos, and more.

The show is open to the public from 1pm to 5pm on Friday, May 18, and from 8:30am to 4:30pm on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and May 20. General admission tickets are $10 for adults (good for all 3 days) with under 18 free with paid adult, and include all general activities such as vendor exhibits, programs, fly tying demos, kayak demos, and casting.

Those wishing to participate in the convention activities, such as workshops, banquets, FFF casting certification, women's outreach, or Camp Fly Fish (youth program), may do so by registering. Registration forms, as well as detailed information on programs, tiers, workshops, and other event activities will soon be posted at the Gulf Coast Council's website (see below).

The Lake Charles area was devastated by Hurricane Rita, but thanks to the hard work and efforts of the community, including area casinos, the western gateway to Cajun Country is back! Offering an abundance of great seafood restaurants, and some of the best in-city fishing for redfish and spotted seatrout in America, Lake Charles has something to offer for the entire family.

The Saturday night awards banquet will offer typical south Louisiana fare, along with a live auction featuring great merchandise and trips, including many one-of-a-kind items. Money raised through this event will be used to help fund our new organization in the coming year, as well as provide for conservation and education projects in our region.

Vendors wanting to participate should contact Exhibitor Chair Larry Offner at or phone (225)665-3396.
