They need to be somewhere, yes. I use www.photobucket.com for alot of my shots. It's easy, free and gives you the link to cut and paste in to your posts. If you pay a couple bucks a month you get virtually unlimited space and bandwidth as well.

Of course, if you have a file spot included in your personal hosting package, say with Roadrunner or Earthlink, etc. you can use that as well.

Photobucket or something similar is the easiest for most folks.

Once you get the images hosted, it's pretty bug-free... so to speak.
