TPWD Digital Extra Fishing edition

Post by LabRat » Thu Feb 09, 2012 7:36 am

Found this in my inbox this morning. Pretty cool, with embedded YouTube videos in places. Check out the article on aquatic invasives...you will begin hearing more on that topic from the chapter as we have a member (Brad Garner) who has volunteered to be our aquatic invasives subject matter expert, keeping us informed on that front

I've been using 409 on my boots, socks, gravel guards, and waders these last couple of years when I head up into the mountains. Everytime I move from one drainage to another I give everything a good soaking.

First I tried bleach. Ruined a good pair of boots. 409 sounded good, then http://troutunderground.com/2010/11/thi ... ink-again/

Now I either freeze them or take an extra pair for different drainages. I'm really not too sure who to believe these days

Well you learn somthing everyday. I guess I was just one of those early adopters that heard it worked, buit were wrong.
Time to rethink the what I am doing again. I heard about the freezing technique, but what are you supposed to do with waders? They don't easily stuff into many freezers available in Condos or Hotels. I guess I will need some of the specific spray for evasives that so expensive.

Here's an article, it only recommends freezing, drying......

Here is another spray/dip chemical sold at The Fly Shop in California.....

I am not sure it's the best, but it's better than the 409 I have been using that apparently does not work well.
