Whats up with the San Gabriel???

Post by jchristensen77 » Thu Jul 10, 2008 9:13 pm

I have heard and read so much about the north and south branches of the San Gabriel for a way to get a bit away from the crowds, so up 183 I went.

I was perplexed to see virtually NO WATER in either branch? Are these seasonal waterways, or is this just a drought issues / irrigation...not really sure???
I know the park downstream in Georgetown holds some water, but I was hoping on a wading trip....

It is a drought issue. The South Branch at 183, Baghdad Rd., and River Down Rd. normally holds more water and fishes very well. But even now it isn't so bad. Last week I fished from River Down Rd. almost to I35 and caught scores of nice panfish and two very small bass.
