Yeah...I left a bunch of folks at Colorado Bend today, including the Austin Ffishers.

The fish are there, but my timing wasn't too good. I got there about 10, when the action was dying down, and had to be back in Round Rock tonight for a stepsons b-day party.

Talked to some guys the did real well last night fishing by the full moon...he claimed his largest was almost 18" and 4 lbs...

This post from the Central Texas Fly Fishers expresses some of the same emotions posted about the trout.

So, I guess when the boats pull up the rod should come out of the water!

Nice summation on the second post.

I have fished with guides at the coast who put their rods in the water (wade fishing) when boats come by to prevent from tipping others off if they have a fish on...just let the fish run, or even lose the fish to keep others from running in on top of their spot.

When I was at Colorado Bend, several of us were fishing a hole when 3 guys who apparently lived on the river got in their john boat, fired up the outboard and ran literally through the pool, and threw ( yes threw) the anchor in just feet from the guys that were about 10 yadrs upstream from me.
They gave me a wider birth...another advantage of throwing a sink tip line with a clouser... ;-)

So, they run through a productive pool of fish??? Kinda like wading the guadalupe and having a couple of guys wade through the water you are fishing. Pretty rude!

Yep, exactly. They were friendly enough, I think they just were ignorant to what they were doing.

Not to mention a "wider birth." I think my mother's anatomy condemned me to the opposite, resulting in cranial pressure which must be the cause of certain mental eccentricities that haunt me to this day.

Fly fishermen correcting each others spelling and typos? Kinda makes you wonder why we get labeled elitist...

Ha! Well that's what happens when I post in a hurry at the end of my lunch break.
Good eye, but sorry Jimbo, no $100 reward for finding the typos...;-)

That's no typo... that's greatest way to keep fishing spots a secret..... I tell you the Trout were biting on Drys just 20 years upstream from the bridge on a no hackle trumpet fly..... Yeap! Sounds good to me, I'll the craziest looks and nobody will ask any followup questions..... I think this is the kind of code I've been looking for..... Jimbo
