Guadalupe white bass

Does anyone know how the white bass fishing is on the Guad? Have they started their run up the river after all that rain?

I'm sure they started the run with the flows from the last rain.
I suspect fish are spread wide from above Rebecca's Creek down to Cypress Creek.
Watch the flows if you plan to come down from Rebecca's Creek Crossing bridge.
many people forego that and just tresspass in a neighborhood there.
Others come up by boat from Crane's Mill, which is a very long haul (8 miles)

Cranes Mill Park by boat
Rebecca's Creek Crossing Road by wade or kayak? (don't float downriver, because it's an 8-mile paddle in a big lake to get out)
Cypress Creek Neighborhood by tresspassing.

More info on Rebecca's Creek Crossing bridge????

Post by chrislewistx » Thu Mar 22, 2007 4:22 pm

Good afternoon,

Ive been following these post and Im interested in some more info on this Rebecca's Creek Crossing bridge. I have been looking for info online as to where exactly this is. I guess I need to go purchase a lake map for the info Im looking for, cause I cant seem to find it online.

My question is can someone point me in the right direction if Id like to head to that area to do some wade fishing? I live in NW San Antonio and Im trying to find some local water to fish that my old car can make it too....LOL

Or if anyone knows of any public ponds or such around San Antonio I could hit I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Chris

It's the next main road off US 281 after FM 311 - look for a big golf ball and turn right.

mapquest Spring Branch, TX - you'll find it. OK, it's wierd - google and mapquest don't show Rebeccas Creek Road crossing the river - but it does.
go north on 281, pass fm 311, turn right at the golfball and go to the river.

Out your way there is some nice warmwater that will warm up next month. Cibolo Nature Center (for a short rod) in Boerne. The Guadalupe crossings at Sisterdale, Center Point and upriver to Hunt are all very nice.

Unfortunately, no white bass run up the Medina River this year because the lake is too low.
Ruedy's Camp on Red Bluff Creek Trail (west of Pipe Creek) has nice access and there's some beautiful pools downriver that hold nice bass. He charges $5 per person for access. Blanco City Park also has nice access to the Medina.
