A Few whites at Rebecca boat launch

Caught 3 large female whites and some Guad and blacks today in about 3 hours of trolling small cranks. Rebecca boat launch is high and dry and closed to motorboat launching. Most boat traffic has to come from main lake and is nothing at this point, because of shallow water and stumps. Access to the ...

This area and whitewater is where I go for trout. There will be some tube hatch and other kayak traffic during busy periods, like weekends. Quite often, there will be bank bait fishermen at the Maricopa by the bridge, and the owner did have some no trespass signs, may run you off, if you loiter in f...

Re: Drift boat for the Hill Country

Do any of y'all use drift boats? How do they work? What is the general consensus as the best all-around boat for the hill country rivers, for two guys fishing? How often will you be going out? What type of fishing do you do? Where will you be doing your fishing, access varies on Guad, Blanco, Austi...

Thanks for the great pictures, Ron. One additional place to try is the media, "troubleshooters", etc., or maybe local Kendal county paper. Shouldn't be hard to make the case for illegal annexation and the effect it will have on our sport for future generations, if this spreads and goes unchallenged....

Whites past peak on upper Guad?

Haven't had much luck in the Rebecca Creek region. Maybe they're on the way back to the lake by now. Have seen some huge skittish fish 30" when the water is clear, they might be stripers. No luck catching any of them though.

High bridge at 311 to big falls

Drift trip on beautiful, sunny but windy day from 3 to 6pm brought in lots of Guad bass and perch. This is area way above Rebecca Bridge. Checking for whites and trout, but none to be had. Very low water can probably be waded most of way down. Somewhat murky greenish color water, maybe due to tubers...

Launched Rebecca Creek bridge about 3 pm Saturday 4-7. No whites in 2 hour drift trip down about 3 miles. Water very low and very clear again. Beautiful day, but slow fishing, only picked up 6 bass and perch trolling cranks in the few areas deep enough. Canoe hatch is landing full force at the bridg...

Good to know there are others also! I have been going upriver a lot at 311 the last few times I went there, to the pool just above the quick part where the little island is. I hadn't had much warm water luck during the winter though. I get out every week or two so if anyone sees me there say howdy!...

I fish downstream from 311 bridge very frequently also, because it is much closer to the house and saves time and gas. The reason I use a minature pontoon is because of the trespassing and confrontation issues previously referenced. Also the area is very popular with bait fishermen and is generally ...

From the gal at H.O.T. kayaks: Be careful. We had a landowner that was giving us grief along a navigable river. We did as Kelly mentioned...told the landowner to call the Game Warden or the Sheriff and we'd wait right where we were. Did this once, and he never called anyone. The second time he greet...

Care wading banks above Rebecca creek?

For you guys that are wading the areas considerably above Rebecca creek bridge, there is some interesting stories being related at the texas kayak site earier referenced by dbayer. I did notice a NEW very large, no trespass sign upstream indicating "members" only or some such thing last time I was i...

I have had to go 2+ miles to pick up the whites. What color was the water and how fast was it flowing? Was it wadeable or did you use a boat? Otherwise it might fit the "mood" category above.

Fishing shares some characteristics of gambling, seems to me. Skill, luck, and ambient conditions are factors affecting the degree of success. In addition, the mood of the fish themselves is involved. One of the ambient conditions which I consider a negative is after a rain, while the darkness of th...
