Your suspect is unfortunantly true....

I was up there (Tejas) recently, and there are only scattered puddles of water. It doesnt even look like a river was ever there...

Riemer's Ranch Whites

Was at the lower Pedernales directly above Riemers and noticed some frantic water....
Has anyone tried Riemer's for any of the whites yet?? I have tied a bunch of new patterns this year to try them out with a 5-weight...

Looking for a Hill County Assortment....

There is only room for about two cars. If you are coming from the Riemers entrance, the two spots will be RIGHT before the lower water crossing. Pull in really close. You will not be totally off the road, but the Sheriff advised me it was okay in that spot only. As for the other side, where there is...

Jeez...talk about low flows in the summer. I;m not accustomed to such swings in drought like I have experienced down here in Texas. Not a bad thing in this area though, as the fish (like you stated) were holed-up in bathtub sized plunge pools, with some nice shade. Fish on every cast! That cant be b...

Lower Pedernales (Above Reimer's) in late August

I hope these pics work...This will be my first picture post. I will keep it small until I get the hang of it. I fished the Pedernales (upstream of Hamilton Pool Road) and did really well on one fly. All I had was a green slider/popper and a hares ear #14, so I went for the top-water action with the ...

Being a recent transplant from waters in the Northeast, I have never fished with a rod longer that 8' or a weight heavier than 4. Given that, when I moved down here I found myself at a major disadvantage in the Hill Country streams (in most cases). The fact is, Texas has alot more wind, and less tre...

flyfishing with fluoxetine

this discussion is great- you guys are serious fish geeks. I love it! I heard that pretty soon the medical communities will be giving out perscriptions for various SSRIs when they heare we fly fish.... If it wasnt for the boderline-obsession that many of us have with flyfishing (rod building...

Whats up with the San Gabriel???

I have heard and read so much about the north and south branches of the San Gabriel for a way to get a bit away from the crowds, so up 183 I went. I was perplexed to see virtually NO WATER in either branch? Are these seasonal waterways, or is this just a drought issues / irrigation...not really sure...

What to do in the Summer and fall in Austin

I just purchased a kayak. It is an inflatable Kwik Tec, and it does the job...at a good price, and keeps me mobile (inflate/deflate, etc.) As the focus shifts off the Guadalupe for me (as the rubber-hatches, and stress on the trout occur). Anyone have any advice on what to do in the Austin area over...

My name is in lights!

This post from the Central Texas Fly Fishers expresses some of the same emotions posted about the trout. http://www.ctff.org/forums/read.php?2,7103 So, I guess when the boats pull up the rod should come out of the water! Nice summation on the second post. david Those postings were mine David! Well,...
