Great idea for the goose biots. I always had trouble when tying my prince nymphs to get them to seperate at an appropriate angle. Glue them first and then tying them in should solve my problems. And those glass bead eyes, I think I would eat anything tied with those eyes. They look great. Now if you...

The Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake is the place to Trout Fish right now. There are outfitters that are still open to the general public and offer park and fish opportunities. There are also other places that will soon be available as TPWD will start their state wide stocking program in the coming...

I don't tie much, except when I have to, but I like my Renzetti pedestal. You don't need a dedicated tying table to use this vise an you can tie with it almost anywhere. With clamp vises you could mar the table your using and if it's your wife's table that can lead to less time off fishing, much les...

Yeap, I've been busy and missed a weekend of fishing on the Llano, but let me tell you, the Stones concert was fabulous. They filmed it for a DVD release and everyone will get to see the elaborate stage and sound system they had. The stage was said to be "9 Stories Tall" and I don't doubt it. They h...

First news about the H2S in the river is good. Steve Magnelia decided to put some Trout in cages to see if they would survive and they came through just fine. So maybe it's not going to be a problem. We'll probably be doing some more tests in the coming weeks and I'll post that information when it b...

Hydrogen Sulfide, a product of decomposition in deep water. It is very reactive with oxygen and sucks the oxygen out of the water. There were some suspected high concentrations below the dam. Steve Magnelia is studying the problem and TPWD and GRTU will be doing some tests in the river to determine ...

While I was there in the afternoon, the butterflies were flying over in waves and I didn't see any fish rising to them. I few fish hit my indicator, so I tied on a surface popper. I would catch one or two, but after that nothing consistant. I caught most mine on Dave's and wooly buggers. Still good ...

I went back yesterday looking for that big smallie. But first I started down stream at Bezdek's. Walked up stream and fished from the weir back downstream. The fishing was slower than before. Mick told me about the H2S problem and it may be affecting even the fishing downstream. I did see 1 dead Bas...

I fished with Corby after we had finished with the trash removal Saturday. Remember me telling you about a 20"+ Smallmouth that swallowed the Perch I hooked while Perch jerking. Well it got the better of me again or at least a fish of similar size in the same spot. This time I hooked the fish and it...

Those are cool little rods. Next time I sell a house I think I'm going to have to pick one up, even though I have already bought this year's rod! I always wished that I could have saved an old Fenwick fiberglass flyrod to use now when fishing these tight little rivers and streams that are all over t...
