Re: White Bass Spawn

If you are fly fishing you will need a sink tip line. Whites really hug the bottom. For flies, Cypert's minnows, small white clousers (sparsley tied) and white wooly buggers should be all you need. Whites aren't that picky. My flies are usually size 8, or close to it. Take quite a few flies since yo...

Need help with kids fly tying at Trout Fest

All, Guy Harris from Kerrville is organizing the kid's fly tying workshops on Saturday and Sunday (Feb 19-20) of Trout Fest. He needs some volunteers to act as assistants for the kids. You don't need to be an expert tier to help out. If you are interested please email Guy at Gunyon003@AOL.com

Re: Fly Swap!

Great idea Tug.

One suggestion; for the 13th dozen you might consider offering them as a silent auction item for Trout Fest. Contact Phil Dopson for details (contact info on the "contacts" page of the GRTU Web site).

Re: Llano River Flyfishing

Ag, get a copy of Kevin Hutchinson's revised edition of "Fly Fishing the Hill Country" available at most fly shops or directly from Kevin at Fish Head Press (http://www.fishheadpress.com/). It will give you tons of info about Llano access points as well as our other Hill Country gems...

Re: Looking to buy a new rod. Help?

I have several rods I use for bass...in 6 wts I have a TFO 6' 6" modern glass rod that I love, and a vintage South Bend 7' 6" glass rod for creeks and smaller rivers; an 8'6" graphite Cortland Diamondback (my first flyrod) for larger water. If I am throwing big bugs, I have a TFO Ti Cr 8wt that I pr...

Re: summer trip

Also, be sure to check the flows on our webpage. I just saw a post that indicated that flows were increasing today to 800 CFS, which is too fast for wading safely.

The only one I know to avoid is the lower Guadalupe...still closed below the second crossing last I heard due to the flood last week.

Opportunity to help a UT Grad Student - *Not GRTU Sponsored*

All, I was contacted by UT grad student Laura Nettleton who is asking our charter for assistance on a project at school. Laura is asking for digital photos and comments on those photos to "gain perspective on Texas fishing all around. My objective is to understand the lifestyle that comes with Texas...

Wading guidelines in higher flows

With the lake levels at 909+ now, we can expect flows higher than we have become accustomed to in the last couple of years. The flows at the Sattler gauge are 540 cfs at the time of this post. So let's review the guidelines we all read when we signed up for the lease access program: Safe wading depe...

Mick, I would like to see you tie some cracklebacks...I think I remember you mentioning once that you learned that pattern from it's creator.
