Being a novice tyer (probably been at it 3 years or so), I started out with one of the inexpensive started kits from Cabelas, just to see if it was something I would enjoy (oh foolish man that I am). Then I took a beginning flytying class at the old Austin Orvis where we used the Regal vise. ...

Lockjaw, I am sorry to say I will have to delay my trip to the Llano by a week. I'll sneak down there on the 28th to see if y'all left any fish that aren't shaking in their scales ;-)
Gonna stay at Raye Carrington's place. I am so overdue for a little hill country!

Look out Coopers, here we come!

Favorite scissors?

I need to step up and buy some better quality scissors for my tying. I need an all purpose pair, and probably a pair for detail work. What should I buy?

Also, can fly tying scissors be sharpened?

RS2 help with tying in tails

All, I'm a semi-beginning fly tyer looking for some advice. I am tying up some RS2s, and am having trouble figuring out the best way to tie the tails on. I am using this as a guide: http://home.att.net/%7Eferenc/Tie-rs22.htm I am wondering if I am having trouble b/c I am not using a straight shank h...

Flyfisher vs Bass Master?

I was watching a video by Larry Dahlberg, who contends that in certain situations, a fly rod is superior to lures for covering water for largemouth and smallmouth bass. That got me to thinking...if true, I wonder if a flyrodder could outfish spinning and baitcasting techniques in a tournament situat...

It was at Reimers. He said since it had become a park now, access was free. I haven't been myself this year, so I am not sure if any changes have been made to the launch area.

Before this latest cold snap a fly fishing buddy at work was catching some on the Pederales...before he broke his rod mis-handling it. Now he is watching the mail for a return package from the Scott repair shop...
