Thanks, Jimbo. You are a philosopher indeed.

Re: Joe Robinson's Ultralight Spinning Concept

I went fishing on a local Hill Country stream last week with my Joe Robinson radical ultralight system and have, as a result, modified my earlier observations. This stream is crystal clear and low. It's characterized by long pools and short riffles. All of the fish I saw and caught were in the pools...

Re: What's In Your Fly Box for Guadalupe River Trout?

Those are pretty flies, Jimbo, but they do little to advance the greatest philosophical problem of all time: What came first, the chicken or the . . .

Thanks Danny. As always, your ideas about fishing or fly tying are most welcome. And, it was nice to hear from you.

Do you tie your swimbaits with goose biots or with pheasant tails?

Re: Joe Robinson's Ultralight Spinning Concept

Cress,

Great story and pictures. And I think that you've found the use that Joe's system is best suited for: fishing small stuff deep.

Joe Robinson's Ultralight Spinning Concept

I had a chance to fish a beautiful and productive Hill Country stream using Joe Robinson's ultralight system (the modified TFO 2wt. and a Daiwa 500c reel using 6x Stroft mono) and here are my impressions: A. Positive The system is indeed extremely delicate. Casting a small fly with 6x line makes far...

Re: Looking to buy a new rod. Help?

If your taste runs towards classic glass, you could do a lot worse than a Fenwick 806. If you prefer graphite, one of the best deals out there is the Gary Borger Targus line. They're obviously not selling because you see them discounted everywhere. I don't get it; they're great rods and come with an...

Sounds like you had a great time while doing something that will contribute to the viability of our native bass fshery. Not a bad combination.

You might be rich, Trent, which, I have it on some authority, doesn't help your odds of going to heaven.

Re: Fishing in the rain

I was homebound Sunday until mid-afternoon. At that time, I drove up to Brushy Creek in Round Rock hoping to wet a line. If I had continued on Brushy Creek Road that's not all I would have wet. Not only was the creek a brown torrent, but about a mile past the first bridge from Sam Bass Rd, it had fl...

One day I will get a camera and contribute to threads like this.

It was a terrific day fishing beautiful water with a great group of anglers. Thanks, Ron, for making it happen.

Now that you mention it, I have had some success of late using 3" finesse worms fished with a fly rod.
