Re: Fish live here

I've caught some big red ears, but I think that's the best. They're pretty smart fish. When you release them, they hang close to your feet and watch you until you leave their territory. Curtis sent me some photos, and I guess I picked these to show. his best lily pad bass http://img.photobucket.com/...

Re: Nueces River Sand Marl and Gravel Permit pending

thanks for the heads up. There are no native bass west of the Medina - genetically, long-ear sunfish are the baddest boys on the block. But certainly stocked wild bass are there to stay. Chalk Bluff is one of the last large properties before the river generally disappears into the aquifer recharge z...

Re: Fenwick fly rod

glass rods are tougher than graphite and bamboo both. I sight-fished and landed this bass on a 7-1/2' Vince Cummings Water Witch, which is a 6-wt., but has a super progressive taper (tip so soft it will literally dry-fly-fish a 3-wt line, and will cast the leader alone). http://img.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Fenwick fly rod

Sorry I'm late. Nice find with the FF605. I sold Cameron his first fiberglass rod. A Heddon Pro Weight 8381, which is a legendary 7' 5-wt dry fly and midge rod, and Cam really put it to use in the Appalachians. To me, where glass shines are short to mid-length, mid-line-weight rods. Graphite doesn't...
