I have a reputation with the family for loving the wrapping more than the gifts. I always come away from the Christmas gift exchange with some new material that seems great for tying! :-)

Similar to that fly on YouTube, I have tied these flies for years without the hackle. I have a box full of them in different sizes and colors (olive, brown, green, white, purple). This is my own 'desert-island, one fly' fly. As far as I knew I came up with it at the vice one night when I was trying ...

Hey Jimbo, great flathead! I caught several of these last winter whilst dredging for Stripers. They are a blast to catch! I also have caught a bunch of channel cats and carp in the same sessions, only this past winter did I ever catch a flathead on the Guad.

Hey gang, haven't checked this board in a long time so I'm catching up. I have both a smallmouth and a largemouth rod from Sage. I love them both. I use them a lot for bass fishing with big flies, the smallmouth fishes great with a T200 line for dredging. I used the largemouth in August in Mexico fi...

Sage 691XP would be my 'desert island' rod. If I could only have one, this would be it. I've caught dozens of species on this rod on multiple continents. Everything from tarpon and jacks to trout and grayling and all kinds of strange stuff in between. That being said, thank goodness that I don't hav...

I recently bought one of the Sage Smallmouth rods and it is awesome for throwing big stuff. It has a lot of backbone but feels very light in the hands. It is not ideal for throwing smaller flies, but it does pretty good with normal size buggers and the like. So far, this is an awesome rod, I really ...

11-16 Dawn Patrol

I hit the river pretty hard from dawn till about 8:30 this morning to no avail. Didn't see any fish moving or have any takes. It was a beautiful morning, deer, lots of raptors, lots of steam on the water. Pretty darn cold before the sun came up, which should help the water temps. Anyone planning to ...

Sounds like you saw a lot of country! Right now the fishing all over is superb, so you can hardly go wrong. Regarding 'navigable water', I think it's important that we know our 'rights' and the legal definition of 'navigable'. Basically, if you want to fish it, then it is a 'navigable waterway' unde...

There are some oth...

Where on the Pedernales? Anyone know how the Reimers access is since the land changed owners? Is the old launch still available?

Hopefully with a bit of warmer weather things will turn on. More rain would be great too.

Any white bass yet?

The weather and water levels have been strange so far, any reports of white bass in the rivers?
