Jimbo - It was a chain pickerel, not a northern pike. My bad on that, I thought they were the same fish. Was not a gar. I've caught every gar except for an alligator, it was 100% a pickerel. I appreciate it! I fished the pedernales almost exclusively last fall and it is indeed filled to the brim with carp.
It seems that the Ped has the numbers, the Guad has the size. Less people on the Ped, however.

Has anyone been seeing any carp on flats? I had one flat near Kerrville that had some pushing 20 pounds but it has since been taken over by swimmers and bowfishers.
