Re: We need Rain !

At this point, maybe we should ALL meet just above the dam, hang out, and drink a LOT of beer...
See if we can get the lake level to rise that last inch.

We are soooo close!!!

Re: White Bass

The Run is Done. Reports were mostly spotty last month (low numbers), haven't heard any reports in the last two weeks. There were a few reports of limits caught on the San Gabriel, but that was close to a month ago. There might be some late-comers with this last round of rain (??), but I'd call Spor...

Re: Getting ready for topwater action - What flies are you tying?

I like to tie mini-gurglers on size 10-12 hooks, with rubber legs up front, flashy underbody, and buck/calf/craft fur tail, or a seaducer-style grizzly hackle tail. Quick, easy tie. Very versatile with lots of variations on materials & colors to resemble minnows, wounded baitfish, frogs, lizards, be...

Hard to say, but looks like a yellow stimulator, possibly with some CdC in the wing.

Re: Devils River rig

If I did decide to purchase an intermediate/sinking line for this Devils trip, I would also want to use it on the Lower Colorado below Austin. For use beyond the Devils, would you still recommend the Rio 24' 200gr sink tip? Yes, I even have 300gr full sink too, and caught a state record smallmouth ...

My absolute favorite (free/youtube) fly tying videos are from DavieMcPhail

Re: Devils River rig

Congrats on your trip! It's been far too long since I've been to the Devils. I say get an extra spool for one of your reels and slap a sinking line on it, that way you'll have it all. I like the Teeny and Rio sinking lines, and use both a Teeny 5' mini sink tip and Rio 24' 200gr sink tip on my 6wt. ...

Re: They wore me out !

Are there still boots on that long wood fence? Up a little further is where I learned to flyfish with my best buddy when we were kids. Our families would rent out a house on the upper stretches at the end of every summer. Classic times, and splendid memories. Need to get back out there with the next...

Re: Peacock bass?

I would like to tackle these guys with ultra-light fly rods. Found these two reports a while back. Maybe you'll enjoy.
