Re: Tainted water below dam?

Has there been a fish kill related to this report? There might be stagnant separated pools, but the river should be flowing slowly at 50 cubic feet? Thanks for the link JWH.

Re: We need Rain !

Flow rate of the upper Guad river has barely moved after the rains, hope it was enough to make a difference.

Re: White Bass

I had a good run using my pontoon last Saturday April 8th on shallow running lures, at Rebecca bridge area. Worked down to big rapids and back, 21 fish in 2 hours- all but 5 were 14"+ whites. Talked to a bank fisherman who said he did well in April of last year using lures, from his kayak. Flows may...

Re: White Bass

No public wading access at Rebecca creek since the drought ended years back -when it was possible to walk in the ankle deep creek water. Floating with a tube would be least troublesome and least expensive way to get to the fish without trespass, followed by a kayak. The water is fast after the last ...

Re: Asking for Advice

When can be at least as important as where. The area on the lake side the dam and Tom Creek can be good in the Fall as well as boat ramp #11 on the upper Guad. (no trout), if you have access to a boat, kayak, tube. White bass run at Rebecca Creek rapids around December to March. Crappie reputed to b...

Re: Bass and cats on the Llano

Thanks for the nice vids. I like your sun protection gloves and sleeves, similar to what I use. Sometimes I will reverse the left and right gloves so that the dark latex palms cover the top part of the hands which take a lot of beating from a hot overhead sun. The mesh backs on my home made versions...

Closed to motorboat and trailer drops, but open to smaller, hand launch craft- tubes, toons, kayaks, rafts, etc. Yesterday was slow, but good 2 other times I've been there...

Guad ramp #11 area action action increases

Caught a few, but very large whites, crappie, striper myself a few days before this December cold front. Another chap at the ramp claimed smallmouth, guads and blacks. You will need a small craft to float the area around #11 to work the area, since there is very limited bank access.

Peacock bass?

I think these cichlids were planted in Texas (Bastrop?) awhile back, and Florida may still have some. I have a trip to PR coming, and am trying to free up some time to go after them for sport. I have no experience with these, and would appreciate experience/hints from anyone in this regard. Thanks, ...

Re: Whites, striper at BR #11

Rebecca Creek Boat ramp Canyon Lake #11. That is the Guadalupe river ABOVE Canyon Lake. Smaller white bass males usually run first in the main run of February, but there is a good mix of both going now....

Whites, striper at BR #11

Faux? run starting already. You will need a boat/float tube to work the areas in the main channel and creeks around #11. Place is deserted most weekdays. Large boats cannot make it upstream to #11...

Re: Striper fishing on the lower guad?

I think one of the state record stripers for the Guad was caught around horseshoe area. Good luck, would welcome a post on river floating conditions when you get back. The lake at the dam area also has stripers, down deep this time of year. I have had good luck with stripers at the upper Guad a few ...

Re: Striper fishing on the lower guad?

There aren't as many stripers as other species like trout or even carp, in my experience. Some fishermen remove them for meat or because they prey on trout. Tubers don't start until after 10 am, and there should be fewer of them, because of the low water. Pon Hey folks, Ive heard there are stripers ...
