Re: Carp spots

This is an old post, but I'd definitely second the Perdenales River. I like the section near Hamilton Pool Road (good luck parking though). In reality though, virtually any waterway around here likely will hold these fish. I've seen (not caught) them in the Blanco, San Marcos, Upper Guad, Colorado.....

Re: Scud back material?

I read an article recently about how there is a war with tiers as to whether scud imitations should even be curved in the first place.
The more time I spend at this I begin to think that the patterns are so vast to attract people rather than fish...

Re: New to tying - looking for a unique resource...

If you enjoy to see the visuals of a video to aide in your tying http://www.globalflyfisher.com has some great videos for tying (in addition to fishing videos to waste your work-day. Once you are tying the basics you can substitute materials, tweak colors, and other stuff to create your own patterns...

Re: Scud back material?

Definately go for the plastic bags. Totally cheaper and easier to work with..
Dont forget to buy some cheap monofiliment for the segments!

I still have a 300 yd spool from high school!
It's pink Ande, 80Lb test that my freind gave me from his Blackfish (Tautog) rod.

Re: What's In Your Fly Box for Guadalupe River Trout?

Yep - Orvis has them - I still think its funny though that women are buying them from fly tying suppliers.
I have some hare's masks that are just about done. With those in chic next year, maybe dangled from something...?

Re: What's In Your Fly Box for Guadalupe River Trout?

I have to admit that I'm not hip to today's female (and male that like to look female) fads.
I had a ton of saddles that I thought I would never need to replce until now - And I cant find any good ones anywhere

Re: What's In Your Fly Box for Guadalupe River Trout?

Anyone have any luck getting their hands on any decent saddles these days? Come to find out there is a fashion "underground" my wife told me about! I cant find them anywhere, and I think this fashion stupidity is driving the prices up for poor fly fishermen like me! http://saddlefeather...

I love that place. If only there were some easy areas to wade.

Re: Cibolo Creek Help - First Timer

It probably doesn't matter how many of us fish the Nature Center. I was fishing there one day and three guys with a long net were sweeping up the creek, bank to bank, cleaning out all the fish they could. They didn't speak English, so we didn't have much of a conversation. Draw your own conclusions...

Re: cats whisker

Just wanted to renew this thread.
This is hands-down, by favorite underwater fly for the Texas hill country. I actually have a box, just of this fly in various sizes and materials, but I find the arctic fox, in natural colors to be the best.
In a word --- INCREDIBLE

Re: Cibolo Creek Help - First Timer

I like Alex's point about this fishery being one of the area's worst kep secrets, but its a nice place. I figure, the more flyfishers in the area, the more catch and release. The more people who come onto a strem like this, hopefully interested with like-minds in conservation and stewardship the bet...

Cibolo Creek Help - First Timer

I have decided to spend the day with the wife at the Nature Center in Bourne, and keep reading that it is quite the stream to wade a fish with flies. I have a 3-weight that hasnt seen the light of day since I used it for brookies in the Northeast and I love the idea of "cypress tunnels" sunfish, pos...
