Jimbo, I agree with MxMan....your Canon is working great for you. Believe you had not only some great lighting on this trip, but some photography talent as well. ;-) Very nice.

I thought that might be the case...for what I paid for them (can't get advice from a shop without buying flies) it better be on purpose!! :)

Saltwater Beadeye Question

Earlier this year I was at South Padre and bought several flies from the fly shop in Port Isabel. When I got home I noticed that all of the bead eyes were offset. Since all of them were this way I assume it was intentional. Does this make the fly more erratic on retrieve? Dale http://www.daleconnall...

I found a nice shortcut from the park directly to Post Oak Road that cut off a couple of miles and MUCH less traffic. Easiest bike shuttle I've done so far! Just hated to get off the water. The fishing between 3:30 and 5 was awesome. Would like to have fished til dusk. Those are great fish in your p...

Amen on the Colorado. I fished it Friday afternoon as well. I landed a nice cat, another one broke me off. Couple of nice bass, lots of small ones. Fun day! Dale First attempt at pics. I don't take very pretty pics of fish when I'm alone and afraid of 'em ;-) http://www.daleconnally.clearwire.net/CO...

Just to throw in a different approach. On the Colorado tomorrow I'm taking a TFO Teeny 5 wt. It is a fast rod, relatively light for a fighting butt. I'm hoping I need the butt on some big cats and bucketmouths ;-) Also comes in a 4 wt. Third trip for this rod. So far, so good. Dale Pic of my best ba...

Quigley's flies

Saw a picture of a Quigley Stacker Stone...pretty cool looking stone/terrestrial. Stacker technique puts all the hackle above hook shank. Anybody ever seen the dvd Tying Bob Quigley's Signature Flies? Thinking it might be good for Santa list, but would welcome reviews. Thanks, Dale http://store.thef...

You might also considered photo travel cases. Cases like http://www.amvona.com/?page=shop/flypage&view=1&product_id=1823 Several show up on Ebay in different sizes/configurations. I have one that is a makeup case kinda like the old tackle boxes with two sets of shelves with little dividers that fold...

We used 8' pontoons with fins and oars. Water was ideal for them at 185 cfs...could shoot rapids, only had to walk a couple of spots. I took a 4 wt this trip. Perfect for fish. I'd watch the wind forecast...if it had been windier, I would have taken a 5 or 6.

Fished the Llano last week...spectacular day. Water was in great shape, weather was near perfect and fish were cooperative. We did the James/Simonsville stretch. Dos Rios RV gave us a reasonable shuttle. Lots of small but colorful fish, and an unexpected close encounter with a couple of Apache helic...

"Sterilizing" wild feathers

Have a friend willing to give me some "freshdead" turkey quills. What do I need to do with them to make sure no critters get into my Whiting hackles. I know keeping them separate is an obvious answer, but would freezing them render them safe?
Thanks in advance.
