Re: Anybody ever used Uber / Is Uber available down near the river?
You might be able to arrange a shuttle from the folks at Rio. If not I am sure they know folks that could shuttle you. Might be easier than rolling the dice on Uber

Re: mentor needed
Chris is a good teacher. In addition you might find some books helpful. Landon Mayer has one I like called "How To Catch the Biggest Trout of Your Life". There are others out there as well that are also good. But nothing beats time on the water with a good instructor.
Enjoy the journey!

Re: mentor needed
Suggestion - if you are unable to find any takers to your post. consider hiring a reputable guide for a trip. Yes it costs money, and perhaps more that you want to spend. But it will shave years off of your learning curve. My first 5 trips to the Guad were completely fisheless. I learned a lot by as...

Re: Lease Expansion beyond the Guad
The biggest issue TPWD has been combating with Guadalupe Bass is overcoming the unfortunate decision years ago to stock smallmouth bass, which interbreed with the Guads and dilute the genetic purity of the species...almost to a point of losing the species all together. Their strategy of late has bee...

Re: INT'L Federation of Fly Fishers
This is held by guides who fish the Guad. Its more of a fun event than a competition, with donations provided to GRTU, and data on fish caught shared with TPWD. This holdover tournament has been going on for several years now.

Re: Fish live here
I seriously thought about it, but a friend was speaking at church and I didn't want to miss that. Plus I had hopes that Brushy Creek would be fishable, but it is still out of its banks in the section I wanted to fish. I will have to take a rain check.

Re: The Slab
Jimbo we were staying at a lakehouse in Kingsland and saw that same airplane fly over the house. I was planning to fish the slab last week as well, but we were having so much fun with slab bluegill in the cove we were staying on that we fished it everyday instead..I was using that same yellow boogle...

Re: Hill Country Pike
I caught a small (about 12") chain pickerel a few years ago on Granger lake in the river section while crappie fishing with conventional tackle. This link might help: http://www.maine.gov/ifw/fishing/specie ... l_pike.htm
