5th Annual GRTU Youth Trout Camp – Dakus Geeslin
GRTU will be hosting the 5th Annual Youth Trout Camp this January over the MLK Day Holiday weekend January 19-20, 2019 at Rio Guadalupe Resort, right on the river. Throughout the weekend participants will get a unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge and experience on the Guadalupe River Trout Fishery. Youth age 12-17 and one parent or guardian will learn about the trout fishery, fishing knots, fly casting, how to tie flies, identify aquatic insects and understand their role in trout fishing. The highlight of the weekend is the guided fishing trip on Sunday morning. Youth anglers get a chance to fish with experienced guides and GRTU ambassador anglers for trophy Rainbow Trout!
The Youth Trout Camp is staffed by volunteer instructors and staff including professional fly fishing guides, fisheries biologists and game warden from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, education specialists, and GRTU volunteers.
How can you help?
- Sponsorships and donations – The Youth Trout camp is seeking sponsors to help offset the cost of the camp. The tuition costs for camp are kept at a very low price to allow all families to participate in this experience.
- Gear donations – Kids love gear. If you have any new or used fly fishing or outdoor gear that you would like to donate to our Youth Camp, please let us know.
